The role of a GlobalScot
Being a Member
Membership of GlobalScot is by invitation only. It is a personal membership and therefore is not transferable. Members are invited to join the network based on their seniority, experience and track record in industries of significance to Scotland. As a minimum all GlobalScots should:
- Be willing to engage; GlobalScots must be willing to commit time to support network activities and articulate clearly the types of roles and activities they are interested in supporting;
- Be influential in corporate decision-making;
- Be part of extensive professional and social networks.
- Possess a strong desire to promote and enhance the Scottish economy for the benefit of Scotland;
- Should not view membership of the network as a source of personal or professional gain.
How you can support
The support you offer can take a number of forms (both physical and virtual):
- Business Support: Supporting international trade opportunities for Scottish companies by offering advice on planning, knowledge and skill, plus offering a support network and contacts.
- Inward Investment Support: Encouraging Inward Investment Opportunities and promoting Scotland as the ideal destination for business investment.
Leadership Development: Help build a strong culture of leadership in our businesses and inspire people to operate at their full potential. Specifically, supporting the Saltire Foundation by investing in the development of Scotland's future business leaders
- Shaping the Future of Scotland's Key Industries: By offering advice; making connections, facilitating introductions and promoting Scotland's expertise in our key industries.
Accessing GlobalScot
Access to GlobalScot for Scottish organisations/companies is completely free of charge. Advice and meetings should be seen as an integral part of GlobalScot membership. If however, Scottish organisations/companies wish to develop a business relationship with GlobalScots this should be at the bequest of the company and not the GlobalScot.
Making the most of your Membership
- Visit www.GlobalScot.com The website is the central destination in building your own networks with fellow GlobalScots and Scottish organisations/companies and keeping a breadth of current discussions, events and activities within Scotland and your geography.
- Keep your profile updated: Without this information, we are unable to signpost companies to you for assistance.
- Visiting Scotland? Please let us know Scottish companies and the team are very keen to meet up with returning GlobalScots. It is always a privilege to meet our GlobalScots face to face and a fantastic opportunity to connect with Scottish businesses
- Visiting Other Destinations? Look out for fellow GlobalScots We have membership in most countries and would encourage GlobalScots to utilise their own network when travelling internationally with business.
