Edinburgh Company with Global Ambitions Makes Headlines

Bright Purple is a highly successful Edinburgh based recruitment specialist, with exciting revenue growth projected from £18.7m last year to £35m this financial year, and a nomination for a National Business Award. Hardly surprising then to see them making a few headlines.

The company is turning global ambition into reality by participating in Scottish Development International's International Strategy Development Programme (ISDP) which offers companies practical advice and support to compete in global markets (for further information see http://www.globalscot.com/News/SDIISDP.aspx).

Nick Price, 49, is one of the founders and is managing director of Bright Purple. Nick has some interesting thoughts on the type of message that Scottish businesses should be sending out and on maximising Scottish networks, which he outlined in an interview with the Sunday Herald this week:

"I want to tell people that we are a successful Scottish company and we are doing well at the moment. We've become too reticent to talk things up in Scotland - but that's what we need to do. When companies such as JP Morgan make a decision to come and locate in Scotland they do their homework and they read about the country: if they think this is a negative place, then they will simply go somewhere else.

"I'm heading over to New York next week where we are always well received. We recently placed the head of US operations for a major global bank in Wall Street. But it's also because we're Scottish. There are thousands of Scots working around the world, and we have a ready-made connection with them."
