Chemspec Europe 2011

An SDI delegation led by Zoe Kemp and Marion Murray took 9 Scottish chemical companies out to Geneva to be part of the SDI pavilion at Europe's dedicated fine, custom and speciality chemicals event - Chemspec.
The event was extremely well attended with approximately 4000 visitors and 300 exhibitors. There were various presentations held throughout the 2 days including the RSC (Royal Society of Chemistry Symposium) Continuous Processing Event where GSK and Ian Laird from NiTech Solutions (CMAC) presented.
The companies were all given an opportunity to showcase their products and services during the course of the 2 days at the Chemspec Showcase area and were extremely busy and proactive in stetting up partnering meetings prior to and during the event.
The sense of community and support for each other also is reflected in the company feedback:
There was a great camaraderie on the stand with people helping each other out and putting on a united front" - David Vale - Ceimig
Christian Syme and Johannes Augustin from Paris and Germany offices also joined Zoe and Marion on the pavilion. A number of good meetings with potential investors were held, giving the chance to strengthen field contacts and develop some potential new leads. They also had the pleasure of meeting with the GlobalScot based out in Switzerland, Alan Chalmers.
He is an extremely well connected and knowledgable person within the chemicals industry and it was a pleasure to meet him and see the dedication and support he has to give something back to Scotland.
