GlobalScot Network User Picks up MBE from Queen

GlobalScot network user Elaine Stephen was awarded an MBE from the Queen this week. The MBE which was awarded to the former school teacher for services to child safety came as a real surprise to Elaine. Elaine Commented;
“I never imagined that something like this could happen to someone like me and hopefully it will give inspiration to the children I teach that they too can achieve anything if they put their minds to it and work hard.”
In the wake of picking up her award from the Queen at Holyrood Palace, Elaine Stephen MBE, announced the addition of two new products to the Walkodile® brand.
Walkodile is a revolutionary system to improve safety on outdoor trips from school/kindergarten for 3-7 year olds. It also creates a better learning environment & encourages more outdoor education.
Unlike her original Walkodile® idea which can accommodate six children, Walkodile® “Quattro” and “Duo” can be used by groups of four or two children.
Elaine said, “Whilst continuing to market Walkodile® to schools & nurseries, Quattro and Duo can take the Walkodile® brand into new retail markets such as childminders and even mums and dads. Our research shows Walkodile® works for smaller groups of young children as they are moved around in busy locations. In addition, we are also trialling several new ideas to increase our product offering”.
Speaking of her day at Holyrood Palace, the teacher turned inventor added, “It was an unbelievable experience to meet the Queen, and I was thrilled to discover she was very knowledgeable about Walkodile® and knew exactly why I’d invented it”.
Their efforts led to Walkodile being named "UK Invention of the Year" and is the country's most decorated innovation, having won a string of awards in the UK and Europe.
Walkodile is being sold successfully in the UK and the company is now looking to market Walkodile overseas.
