Launch of Scotland and Poland Association

The Scotland and Poland Association has been launched in Warsaw, Poland in May 2010.

The President of the Association and new GlobalScot member, Mr. Paul Gogolinski was born and raised in Aberdeen of a Polish father and Scottish mother and now lives in Poland with his Polish wife and two daughters.

The Association has been formed by Scots and Poles living in Poland aiming to create a focal point of interest for all aspects of the connections between the Countries. The Board Members are Martyn O'Reilly (fellow GlobalScot member), Craig McGuire and David Green, all Scots businessmen living in Poland, Leszek Wieciech and Grazyna Goslings who have lived in Scotland whilst serving in the Polish Diplomatic Service and Martin Oxley, GlobalScot and CEO of the British Polish Chamber of Commerce. This cross section of enthusiasts will ensure that the broad aims of the Association are assured of success.

There is a wide spectrum of common themes already linking Scotland and Poland starting from the centuries old Scot's migration to Poland to modern day Polish mass migration to Scotland and all that has happened between. The development in business and tourism, the exchange of culture, education, art and others, represent growing opportunities for future development that could bring benefits to both countries.

'It is clear that activities to promote bi-lateral opportunities between Poland and Scotland have taken place in the past and we are continuously hearing of new ones. The Association aims to create a focus point of information concerning all activities into one organization and this is enshrined in the Association's statute' says Paul Gogolinski.

A website www.scotlandpoland.pl, has been set-up and will be developed to become a point of reference for articles, links, forum, news, people and information. The Association invites members and non-members to submit articles and materials that could be of interest to others. In this way, it is hoped that the website will receive regular visits from a wide audience internationally and draw attention to the fascination that is Scotland and Poland.

The Association is not a business venture and all revenues generated from membership fees, events, sponsorship or advertising will be used purely to cover costs initially and later in promotional activities that support our goals.

Over the coming months, the Association will be organizing or involving itself in activities promoting Scotland in Poland and vice versa. It wants to support and be supported by organizations that have similar aims.
