New Role for GlobalScot Will Whitehorn

FlagSaltire Stagecoach has confirmed that Whitehorn is joining the company as a non-executive director.

The experienced executive will join the remuneration committee and the nomination committee at the Perth transport company replacing Sir George Mathewson.

Edinburgh born Whitehorn is chairman of industrial and product design firm Loewy Group, non-executive chairman of Next Fifteen Communications Group and a non-executive director at the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre.

Until December last year he was president of Virgin Galactic having spent more than 20 years at Sir Richard Branson's Virgin Group. He is member of the Science Technology Facilities Council and the GlobalScot network.

Stagecoach Group is a leading international public transportation group, with extensive operations in the UK, United States and Canada. The Group employs around 30,000 people, and operates bus, coach, rail, and tram services. The Group has three main divisions – UK Bus, UK Rail and North America.

Commenting on the Will Whitehorn's appointment to the board, Sir George Mathewson, Chairman of the Company, said:
