SDI CEO Promotes Scotland in China and Japan

lenaarticle Chief Executive Lena Wilson recently undertook a succssful visit to China and Japan, two increasingly important target markets for Scotland.

The Visit began in Japan on September 10 2009, with a meeting to celebrate the agreement between Scottish digital media company AV9 and Pony Canyon, one of Japan's largest entertainment distributors. The deal means that Pony Canyon will be able distribute Japanese mobile content such as Pop music, animation, and drama in europe via AV9's mobile platform, MOKOMOKO from October 2009. Ms wilson met Mr. Kei Hosoji, executive Managing Director, Management infomration Headquarters, Sales and Distribution from Pony Canyon, and Mr. Grahame Smith, CEO of AV9.

On the same day, Ms wilson also met with Japanese journalists to promote Scotland's ambitions and activities in the renewable energy field. this was of great topical interest given that Japan's newly-elected prime minister, Mr Hatoyama, had just promised a big cut in greenhouse gas emmisions, saying he will aim for a 25 per cent reduction by 2020 comparedwith 1990 levels.

Ms Wilson then travelled to China, where her visit began with a dinner reception hosted by Scotland for the world route Development forum, attended by Stewart Stevenson, the Minister for Transport, infrastructure and climate change, and travel authorities from china and around the world. The SDI delegation then went to Jinan, Shandong Province to sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between SDI and the shandong Province Department of science and Technology, aimed at increasing partnership links in the life sciences industry between Scotland and Shandong. In Jinan, the group took part in meetings with the Shandong Province Vice-Governor, as well as leaders from the Shandong Department of commerce and the Luye Pharma Group. SDI also co-hosted a collaborative forum on life sciences technology development with the Shandong Department of science and Technology, which was attended by leaders from Shandong's government, corporations, academic institutions, and covered by major media outlets.

Ms Wilson returned to Beijing to meet with goldwind, china's second largest wind turbine manufacturer, the China Meteorological Administration and SgurrEnergy's China representatives. Ms Wilson ended her China visit with a lively media briefing during which she and Mr Stevenson shared information and answered questions from membres of China's major press about Scotland's advanced capabilities in renewable energy technology. This was followed by a dinner reception with SDI's key chinese business contacts.
