GlobalScot - working with The SaltireFoundation

The SaltireFoundation is a charitable organisation which was set up to provide talented individuals, with a unique opportunity to engage with international business and build new international contacts.

Inspired by the observations of the International Advisory Board - itself largely composed of GlobalScots - the SaltireFoundation has initiated two unique programmes which will help Scotland to further develop its global business network and compete successfully in international commerce.

Through its Fellowship and Undergraduate Internship Programmes, the SaltireFoundation aims to create a steady stream of globally minded entrepreneurs ready to do business on an international level.

The Saltire Fellowship

The Foundation's prestigious Fellowship Programme is designed to provide future business leaders with the skills they need to succeed on a global level and bring increased prosperity to Scotland.

This intensive year-long programme combines world class teaching with experiential learning in leading companies, many of them associated with the GlobalScot network.

It will fast track the careers of our most talented aspiring business leaders and create a powerful alumni network of Fellows, which will have a major impact on the Scottish economy over the longer term.

Undergraduate Internship Programme

The Foundation's Undergraduate Internship Programme is a one-of-a-kind work placement for third year students at Scottish universities.

Students who meet the high standards demanded by the programme will spend the summer with a top-flight multinational company, working at a high level with leading executives in one of the world's key business centres. Companies who have participated in the programme include:

• Fujitsu in Tokyo
• The Wood Group in Texas
• Rolls Royce in Indiana
• The Grand Hyatt Hotel in Singapore

The students who are given this world-class opportunity will return to Scotland with a strong vision of what they can accomplish in the business world. The skills they gain through a SaltireFoundation Internship will help propel them forward in their career, to the benefit of Scotland as a whole.

Aims of the SaltireFoundation

After the SaltireFoundation's alumni have returned to Scotland, the skills and contacts they have gained will filter through to the wider Scottish business community, helping to transform Scotland's economic landscape in the future.

GlobalScots can assist the Saltire Foundation by hosting the SaltireFoundation's Undergraduate Internship and Fellowship Programmes, and by providing help and support to ensure that their expertise is passed on to the next generation of Scottish business leaders.
